Exams are back............. hurray!!

Through this post I'll try to justify the HURRAY and how my brain got rewired to associate this frightful E word (that can cause full grown humans to wet their beds, cause insomnia, make the habitual bunkers to attend classes and among hotties can ignite a sudden interest in the geeks and nerds.) with fun and relaxation.

Don't get me wrong this post is not about techniques to overcome exam fears or to get over your nerves improving your performance and all that crap. If you are looking for anything useful please do not read further because if anything this post will only make you more nervous and you might break your laptop in frustration.

When a child grows up through school, teachers, parents, elder siblings ,relatives almost everyone around make a great deal out of marks, sliptests, unit tests, quizzes, the child begins to associate exams with some hugely important life altering event, soon the child discovers the highly dubious nature of the result of an exam that can make parents and teachers happy bring in chocolates while at times can usher in waves of scoldings, new books, tutors, restrictions on tv, games.

Growing up I associated  EXAM with fear, expectations, burden and a whole lot of painful studying, mugging, sleepless nights. However after school and now in college through 1st and 2nd year the word has evolved , now exam time is associated with faster download speeds hence more movies and episodes, somehow my brain has associated the word EXAM with holiday mood a time to relax, catch up on sleep, movies, tv shows, reading etc.
Sometimes though  when I loose control panic strikes and all the fear comes rushing back and I do open the books but within 10 minutes the saner me takes over and everything is back to normal.

Yesterday when I tried reading Analog Communication (yeah it is as interesting as it sounds) I ended up watching 3movies, Fight club, American History X, 88 minutes munching on the burnt slices of pizza ordered from a local food joint.
At times while trying to figure out how to draw layouts, stick diagrams in VLSI, I suddenly end up on a football field playing for hours till the guard forces us to turn off the flood lights or 4 hours later drooling all over the book or Facebook or my newly acquired and well honed skill of staring off into blank spaces.

Now I am off to watch The Wrestler before I go insane and try studying again. So cheers !! everybody happy Exams !!
